pretty pearls

the white tea pearls that i'm using were the inspiration to my pearl-like shapes on the packaging. the colors represent each flavor: white grapefruit (pink), white tropics (blue), white cucumber (green).

little brown box

i really like this idea. it's pure and simple and would be perfect to package my three tea flavors as a whole. i was thinking of having this box be turned inside out with the postage already included so that Awaken tea drinkers can return it to our company with no hassle. we would then recycle the materials.

packaging

here is the glass jar that i have chosen to use for the packaging. once the tea is gone, a person could pull the label off (which will keep the tea protected from light) and reuse it as another vessel or remove the cork for a regular drinking glass.

logo

i'm really excited to have a logo at last! i have not posted in awhile but that doesn't mean i haven't been hard at work. i've continued to tweak certain letters..however it may still need some adjustments. i think i need to step away for a moment. then we'll see. in the meantime, i'm pretty pleased with the movement in the forms and the color palette.

tins and jars?

here are some shapes and sizes that interest me as aluminum tins that would be reusable.

Tisane Tea Tasting

After going to Tisane, I feel like I got a better understanding of the different types of teas (white, black, green, and oolong), the qualities of the teas, and the process in creating such different types. I really enjoyed watching the "green sea anemanie?" grow. I thought it was a very interesting shape to begin with and then once seaped in the hot water it was even more beautiful. I would really like to work with the shape of the hand tied tea leaves but I believe the white tea leaves are too delicate for this technique. Out of all of the flavors, I enjoy oolong and white the most. The seemed more on the sweet side and were a lighter variety. I really liked the color of the black tea though. The woman also gave us a few interesting facts about packing and how she has had to deal with different modes of design. Glass and aluminum or other metals will probably hold the flavor and quality longer, yet it is harder to decompose these materials. I am just torn between whether I would like to use decomposable materials or something that has another life after the tea is drank. This experience definitely made me appreciate tea more and I have to say even though I'll always love coffee, I am beginning to enjoy tea more these days.

concepts

I would like to approach the logo identity with letter forms that resemble the spontaneity of a person's day, the idea of stretching in the morning with a certain rhythm that people carry in order to get the day in gear. I want the color palette to stay a bit subdued to portray the Awaken tea brand. The flavors will carry more antioxidants than caffeine yet energize the spirit, soothe and relax the mind and body, and revitalize your senses. I also want to have a "white tea" theme, as white teas have been proven to be healthier than green teas and may lower the risks of cancer.
